Heirloom Quality Fine Table Linens

What are fine table linens? It depends on who you ask. Fine linens used to be just what they're called, high quality linen tablecloths and napkins from France or Italy. Today you'll find a lot of what is sold as "fine table linens" are polyester. There really isn't anything horrible about this, as these products look good and are easy to clean. Good looks and ease of cleaning and care are two very important things.

You can still find a lot of fine table linens online if you know what to look for. There is nothing quite like fine table linens that are actually linen. Once you've used linen nothing else is quite the same. However, linen takes care, and it takes ironing. Unlike very good look alike polyester tablecloths and napkins linen wrinkles and must be ironed before use. Real linen has a refinement that no other fabric has and linen is an extremely durable fabric.

Some of the nicest linen tablecloths and napkins come from makers like Sferra Brothers. Sferra Brothers are makes of fine Italian linen. Sferra Bros calls their linens heirloom linens because they will last for generations. If you've ever had linen dish towels you know how tough and long lasting they are. Linen dish towels also dry fine crystal without leaving any trace of fibers, like cotton does.

Another maker of fine table linens is Yves Delorme. Their quality is unmistakable. Their most beautiful table linens are the jacquard-woven pure cotton offerings. Yves Delorme also has lovely 100% linen table clothes and napkins. They generally offer any particular pattern in six colors. These fine table linens from Yves Delorme are not cheap, but like Sferra Bros they are heirloom quality and should be considered an investment.

Anichini is another maker of 100% linen tableware from Italy. Anichini has without a doubt some of the absolute finest table linens made in many different styles, textures and colors. They will have whatever fine table linens you're looking for, from bold and contemporary to classic.

Le Jacquard Francais is another fine French linen maker whose collection you should look at. Again, like the other linen makers they have a wide array of designs, colors and styles of fine table linens.

If you don't have the money to purchase a fine linen tablecloth you could give the illusion of fine linen by using fine linen napkins at the table. Of course, any of these table linens need to be used with care. Before you use them follow any manufacturers instructions. Some of these tablecloths need to be soaked in cold water before use. Also, know how to safely remove stains before you use any fine table linens or napkins.
